Photoessay – GWR City of Truro

We dropped in at the National Railway Museum at Shildon on our latest trip. The City of Truro was sitting in the yard. City Of Truro is a Great Western Railway (GWR) City Class locomotive, designed by George Jackson Churchward and built at the Swindon Works in 1903. It is likely to have been the first steam locomotive to travel in excess of 100 mph.

We’d seen her once before, on a previous visit in 2003 to York where she was being rebuilt.
